Johnossi @ Bygget - Alexis' view

Johnossi @ Bygget - Alexis' view

How John and Oskar can create such a big soundwall is a mystery that still keeps me sleepless at nights. The key lies in two things

1)      Johns voice – it’s deep and, combined with a delay effect, it creates a beautiful harmony which is a vital ingredient in Johnossi’s soundwall

2)      Guitar effects – John has a big arsenal of different effects, often a delay pedal, that doesn’t only make their songs more different from each other, they also match perfectly with his voice and that’s what made me go totally bananas at Bygget in Åre.

Just as Viktor said, the environment @ Bygget was the perfect surrounding for John&Ossi. At a small club the sound will bounce even more against the walls, creating even more wonderful echoes. Their setlist is close to perfection. They started, as usual, with Mavericks. The perfect song to start with, which slowly and proportionaly increases in energy. If I remember correctly they continued with Dead End from the same album Mavericks. Mavericks is their best so far, and it almost dominate their entire setlist. The songs from their first two albums that still make the cut are; Bobby, Execution Song, Party With My Pain and of course Man Must Dance. Personally I think Execution Song is their best song live. They did however forget one of their best songs; No last call.

If I have to say something that can be improved, it is the apperance of Oskar . His connection with the crowd is not nearly as good as John's.. Yes he is the drummer, but he is the drummer of a drum/guitar band, and therefore he needs to connect with the crowd better... Maybe just say something?

After some hustelin' from my side (with a little help of a special friend), I finally made the front row towards the end of the concert. The energy there was just crazy and from there I could closely see these two friends do what they do best.
