MANDO STORIES: The Floor Collapse
The Mando Diao crowd got so wild that the concert floor collapsed.
Dehydration, loose legs and dizziness. These are three classical symptoms that proves you're on a concert. Dehydration from the billion degree warmth created by thousands of people hugging and breathing on a space actually way too small. Loose legs because you have been queueing in several hours and haven't been able to move on more than a 2 metres square to not loose your place in the queue. Dizziness mostly because you're dehydrated.
Magically, in the glimpse of a second, right after the first minimal sound from the band, you have an energy that could last in all eternity.
The 28th of January 2007 at the arena "The black box" in the swedish town Umeå this energy got way too strong. The concert hall lasted fifteen minutes of Mando Diao. The pressure got too high. Sixty adolescents fell into a two metre deep gap through the floor. All of them got injured and thirty one were sent to hospital. Such a tragedy! you think. But I can't resist thinking "Fuck that's cool.."
Björn took a humble stand point to the incident by saying : "This was the absolute worst that could have happend, that our fans would get hurt. All of our thoughts are directed to them."
I think that, at heart Björn thought it was awesomely cool.
