[REPOST] The Films - Black Shoes
A crazy guy dancing his fuckin' brains out till he just drops dead on the dancingfloor. Yeah, that would be me on a The Films concert.
These guys have constantly been on my mind since a couple of weeks back when I found their two albums Don't Dance Rattlesnake and Oh, Scorpio!
Michael Trent (Vocals, Guitar)
Jake Sinclair (Bass, Vocals)
Kenneth Harris (Guitar, Keys, Vocals)
Adam C. Blake (Drums)
Black Shoes is the first song that The Films drilled into my head. The song is perfectly composed with a simple rythm guitar slashing in the background, a lead guitar filling the holes in every possible dull moment and vocals that will penetrate your mind and gently comfort every nerve in your body.
It is a thunderstorm of energetic tunes all the way from intro to outro and Michael Trent sings it with such attitude and cockiness that contributes to even more confusing thoughts like "Why have I never heard of this band before" or that they acctually could be in range to compete with Arctic Monkeys, The Hives or similar bands in the same genre.
I think they're relatively unknown because of their band name and their lack of availability on the internet. Mabye a name change would make it easier to find them through search engines. I mean try google "films" and see the results.
